Disc is Unreadable

Hi,  Have been playing Assassin's Creed II for about 3 weeks, about 1 week ago, I started getting "Game Error - This disc is unreadable" while playing it.  I bought the game brand new and had no problems the first 2 weeks and had not even removed from my Xbox 360.  I keep getting this error and have cleaned the disc several times.  I see no dirt or scratches on the disc.  Has anyone else experienced this before?  I am about 1/2 done with the game, and don't want to stop as it does not happen constantly, but more and more frequently.  Is this a defective disc or is something wrong with my Xbox CD-ROM?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Just in case anyone wants to know and get this error, it was something with the System Cache that was corrupted!  Clear the cache and it stops!

I have bought call of duty, modern warfare from new and only had 24hrs & like you I played it last night & left it in the machine and tonight it keeps telling me it's unreadable, to clean the disc & restart the Xbox which I have done but it still doesn't work. How do you clear the cache?

I got the game a week ago and was playing this afternoon fine.  Shut off the game and came back a hour later and the machine could not read the disc.  I inspected the disc, mint condition.  I logged on and found the information to clear the cache which I did.  Then when I reinserted got an error code -03-80-00 (or something like that) that there was a software error.

So the cache fix did not work for me.  Any other advice would be appreciated.
