How do I make a new Xbox live account on a 360?

I absolutely have no idea why this is so difficult.

I got a "new" 360 and I've been playing offline because I didn't have a way to connect it to the internet. Today I got it online and wanted to change my offline profile to an online one. Going to the Xbox live menu and clicking "sign in" for some reason just makes me sign into my current offline profile. So I click create and enter in my Hotmail account which I use as my Microsoft account which I use for everything on Windows. "This account is already associated with an Xbox live profile" or something like that. I guess it's because I clicked on the Xbox app in Windows 10 and made a random gamertag.

Then I do an online chat with Xbox support and tell the guy that I want to remove the random Player05118 account that I accidentally created. The guy has me make an alias account and tells me to pick an email. I choose a gmail account set it as primary, then he has me delete my Hotmail account saying that it would only effect the Xbox live login and nothing else, even after I asked him to confirm for me. Lo and behold, I can't I try to set up a new account using my gmail and I get an error that the domain can't be used. In the meantime I can no longer log into my Microsoft account by using my Hotmail because it no longer exists. So either the help desk guy lied to me, or he simply didn't have a clue. His name is Reid.

I made a new account on my PC using outlook.com and set that as my primary alias. Nope I can't use that for the 360 either as that email is associated with another account, the one I don't even want.

Lastly I try to make a new account on the 360, one that doesn't already exist, with an outlook.com domain, and once again I got the error about the domain being incorrect.

So how do I actually make an Xbox Live account on my 360 using my offline profile?

I found some info online about moving my account from one Microsoft account to another, for some reason it can only be one on a 360? even if it was never used on a 360.

Anyways I downloaded my junk account to the 360 made a dummy Microsoft account and attempted to transfer it off of my primary email

“Sorry, we can’t change your Microsoft account right now“

Oh lordy, give me a break. Why is there so much nonsense?

Sorry to hear you're having so many issues.  You can either use the gamertag that you created to post here or log into your offline profile and and there should be an option to Join Live on the dashboard.  If there is just click it and follow the instructions.

If you use the gamertag that you created to post here you will need to start all your games over as nothing can be transferred from one tag to another.

The gamertag I'm using to post here is one I do not want. It's something that Windows 10 created with the Xbox app. I want it removed from my Microsoft account.

I have been trying to join Live on the dashboard and I get a new error no matter what I do. I can't join Live if I use an existing Outlook, Gmail, or try to make a new email account through the dashboard. I have no idea what the correct steps are.

OK I manged to solve this issue by making a dummy Microsoft account on my PC and using that to sign into Xbox live.

Xbox support kept wanting me to make a dummy account, make that my primary Microsoft account, delete my old account (which I login to everything with) and things would just work out. That's so much more complicated then just making a new Microsoft account just for Xbox live.
