I absolutely have no idea why this is so difficult.
I got a "new" 360 and I've been playing offline because I didn't have a way to connect it to the internet. Today I got it online and wanted to change my offline profile to an online one. Going to the Xbox live menu and clicking "sign in" for some reason just
makes me sign into my current offline profile. So I click create and enter in my Hotmail account which I use as my Microsoft account which I use for everything on Windows. "This account is already associated with an Xbox live profile" or something like that.
I guess it's because I clicked on the Xbox app in Windows 10 and made a random gamertag.
Then I do an online chat with Xbox support and tell the guy that I want to remove the random Player05118 account that I accidentally created. The guy has me make an alias account and tells me to pick an email. I choose a gmail account set it as primary, then he has me delete my Hotmail account saying that it would only effect the Xbox live login and nothing else, even after I asked him to confirm for me. Lo and behold, I can't I try to set up a new account using my gmail and I get an error that the domain can't be used. In the meantime I can no longer log into my Microsoft account by using my Hotmail because it no longer exists. So either the help desk guy lied to me, or he simply didn't have a clue. His name is Reid.
I made a new account on my PC using outlook.com and set that as my primary alias. Nope I can't use that for the 360 either as that email is associated with another account, the one I don't even want.
Lastly I try to make a new account on the 360, one that doesn't already exist, with an outlook.com domain, and once again I got the error about the domain being incorrect.
So how do I actually make an Xbox Live account on my 360 using my offline profile?
