can a external hard drive work on new xboxs??

i have a 80gb external hard drive and was looking to buy a new xbox the $200 or $300 one and was wondering if i could save games and stuff to my external hard drive.

It works the same way any other USB storage works. You may allocate up to 16GB of space on a USB storage device to a Memory Unit. That's as much space as can be allocated to a USB MU at this time.

It will have all the limitations of a USB MU. It will not support original XBOX titles and it will not be recognized as a HDD for games like Halo: Reach that require a HDD for co-op play.
