Hi,

So I turned on my computer this evening and all I got was a black screen. After some time I go the following the error.

So I would like what I should do about, if there is anything that can be done about, short of doing a complete restore. I can't access any windows of any kind. I can of course start the computer in safe mode with command prompt open but even then behind the command prompt window there is still a black screen.

Hi,

Try these:

Perform clean boot.

a.    Start the computer in safe mode with command prompt.

b.    On the command prompt type “msconfig.exe” without quotation and hit enter.

c.    Then follow the steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

 

Note: Please ensure that the computer is set to start as usual by following the step 7 from the article.
