my computer shut down and all my downloads are gone and all the tiles i added-windows 8 and all my favorites why?

my battery ran out and my laptop shut down -when I restarted it I noticed changes my screen saver was back to the original and all the tiles I added

were no longer there ,nor  were all my added apps and now I realized all  my downloads for my business are gone as well .why?  can I get this all back?

Perhaps the failure corrupted your current user profile?  You could try searching your whole machine for any missing downloads.  They usually end up in C:\Users\usernamexxxx\Downloads

Another thing to try is System Restore and try and get back to before the failure.  Doing so may lose and downloads obtained after the restore point chosen, but it might fix up any user settings  lost.
