Windows 7 - 64bit safe mode (security center is disabled and virus scanner gets errors on opening files)

When in SAFE MODE I try to run a virus scan or use defender I get a error on all files can not be opened. I also get a alert saying WINDOWS SECURITY CENTER is disabled so I click turn on OK then it says can not turn on SECURITY CENTER? This is a FRESH install of W7 - 64bit about 2 hours ago because I had the same problem and I wanted to fix this. I think some Virus is hiding in my system memory?  Any reason why in safe mode I get these errors and problems?

Thanks

Hi rusty68,

·What is the exact error message you are receiving when you run the virus scan?

Safe mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started.

Safe mode with networking starts Windows with drivers and services that include the network drivers and services that are needed to access the Internet or other computers on your network. So I would suggest you to start your computer in safe mode with networking from advanced boot option and then check if you get the alert.

Refer the link: Advanced startup options (including safe mode):http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

Thank you for your reply but after going into SAFE MODE NETWORKING and my NOD32 anti virus runs a scan and on every file it says ERROR in opening of file. I notice when it scans the files it only takes the scanner about 1 minute then it just disappears with no feedback. I also ran Windows Defender and nothing. When I was running the virus scan I notice the white flag warning me of a problem I clicked on it and it says please TURN ON SECURITY CENTER. I click it and it says can not open at this time.. I build computers and I know what I am doing I never had this problem with running a check in safe mode to make sure I did not have a virus and it worked many times for me with no problems. I noticed this virus 2 weeks ago running the same system but with a OCZ Vertex 2 SSD drive, then yesterday I did a complete Windows 7 Pro Fresh install wiping a new Hard drive, but I also copied files from my computer as well. I think I got this virus or what ever I have from saving stuff in my bookmarks from firefox. I followed all the above information as well still nothing..

Hello, Rusty

Do you using version 4 of NOD32 or an earlier version?

Although I wouldn't completely rule out a virus, it sounds like there might be a compatibility problem. If you are using an earlier version, you may need to upgrade to the latest. If you have a 32bit version installed, install the 64bit version.

If you can't fix it with duct tape, you haven't used enough.

Hi there.
I am having enormous problems with this security center disabled problem.
I am running win7 pro 64 bit I have scanned the system with Zone Alarm and picked up nothing. I then ran Spybot which came back with some malware in the IE 9 browser. The other thing spybot found was that
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\wscsvc\Start [is not] W=2
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\wscsvc\Start [is not] W=2 (64 Bit)

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well i have been having the same problems for about a month now but it seems that that there is no other solution than performing an Inplace upgrade. If you need instructions regarding the same I will provide you the steps if you drop me a mail on *** Email address is removed for privacy ***...

PS: I tried every antivirus on the planet. They turned up nothing except for spybot which gives the same two entries as yours.Hope this is of help
