Windows Task Manager looks completly wrong- it has no tabs for processes, applications, services, performance and networking-just a rectangle size box STATING TASKS WORKING ON???  I use it all the time to shut down processes and close stuborn programs. None of those options are available NOW? Only thing that I can think of is I went to delete one of my WD3.0 drives data and it said it was being used by some other program and I have had that happen before and just go close a bunch of the Processes by entering Control, Alt and Delete which opens the windows task manager. I recently changed "System Configuration" under "msconfig"from Normal Startup to "Selective Start up" and cut back the # of drivers and programs loading at "Start Up"as it was running 90 things and booting slow. I have no viruses or malware. I changed the "System Config" back to normal + reboot and was going to delete the progams or processes that were intefering with the West Digital HD software. THATS WHEN I FIRST NOTICED WINDOWS TASK MANAGER WAS SCREWED UP.

But I can't because my Windows Task Manager is just a rectangular box with one word at the top sayingTASKS!!!  No tabs with all the other options as in (program, process, services, performance and networking).

WOULD SOME SMART PERSON PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO? I do not want to do a System Restore as I just cleaned all the points this week and just started over and added a bunch of data this week and programs that I would loose.

Answer
Answer

From Microsoft Support web site.

Task Manager has two different views. To see the view that includes menus and tabs, double-click the border of the Task Manager window. To switch back to the view without menus and tabs, double-click anywhere in the border around the tabs.

The info mentioned in the first answer by Sandsweep is wrong.

(I confirmed the answer from Microsoft worked. I too must have clicked on the edge of the Task Manager window to have toggled to the second, less familar view.)
