Unable to Install KB4038788, error code 0x80073712

I have been attempting to install the most recent update and have been unsuccessful. I have followed troubleshooting solutions offered on other forum posts, such as running the Troubleshooter for Windows Update which did fix issues with the updater but did not resolve the issue I was having installing the update. I have also tried to manually install this update without any success. I have also tried clearing the updater cache, again with no success. I am unsure what else can be done.
Did you go Settings, Updates, Update history, Uninstall updates?

KB4038788 is being widely reported as 'botched'. Do any of these help you? And there are many others, if you search!!!!

If it is so botched why did I install it 2 days ago.

Looking at your list the thing that may be the problem in Norton.

who are you blaming norton, for heavens sake? I searched using Google, not norton.

Just search for yourself and see how many respected forums are full of problems caused by this botched KB4038788.

I installed it yesterday and apart from it taking 45 minutes on this PC and over 3 hours on a cheap new back-up PC, I haven't noticed any problems. But I don't use Edge.

PS Just search MS Comm for KB4038788. & see how many users have reported different problems so far - 100 or so at a guess. Isn't this a sign of another botched WU? Heaven help us if that's normal!

No this shows that they have something installed that is causing problems.  A large of these are 3rd party AV, Security, or cleanup, or driver programs.
