Synaptics pointing device not saving any custom settings in Windows 10

Hi, I just recently got my new HP Pavilion x360 (this one to be exact) and upgraded it to Windows 10. The problem I'm facing is that the Synaptics touchpad drivers (v19.0.25.95) reverts back to default settings every time I reboot.

This is very annoying, because I want to have coasting off and scrolling speed all the way up, but I keep having to change the settings every time my laptop starts up.

Is there any way I can get Synaptics to save my settings permanently? I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, didn't fix the problem.

Thanks.

Answer

I found the problem to be "DeleteUserSettingOnUpgrade". After changing the value to 0, the problem is gone.

Here's how to fix it"

1) Run regedit.exe

2) Go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SynTP\Install

3) Change the value of "DeleteUserSettingOnUpgrade" to 0

4) Save and restart

Your touchpad settings should now stay after reboot!
