Login Information

  • Gateway - 192.168.0.1

How to Find SSID(Network Name)

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. From the menu on the left under the Setup section choose Wireless Settings.
  5. The SSID is on this page labeled Name (SSID).

 

How To Find Wireless Passphrase (WPA/WEP)

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. From the menu on the left under the Setup section choose Wireless Settings.
  5. The wireless passphrase can be found near the bottom of the page.

 

Changing Wireless Security Type/ Disabling Wireless Security

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. From the menu on the left under the Setup section choose Wireless Settings.
  5. Select desired security type under Security Options. (To turn off security, select Disable)
  6. Select Apply.

MAC Filtering

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. From the menu on the left under the Setup section choose Wireless Settings.
  5. Select the Setup Access Control List button.
  6. Uncheck the Turn Access Control On box.
  7. Select Apply.

 

Change Wireless Channel

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. Select Wireless settings from the left hand menu under Setup.
  5. From the drop down menu labeled Channel select the desired channel. (Channels 1,3,9,11).
  6. Click Apply.

 

Change Wireless Mode

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. Select Wireless settings from the left hand menu under Setup.
  5. Select from the mode drop down "g Only".
  6. Click Apply.

 

DHCP Reservation

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. Click LAN IP Setup on the left.
  5. At the bottom of the page you will find the "Address Reservation" section. Click on "Add" to bring up a new menu.
  6. In this menu, if the Xbox you want to add is already on the network, you can select it by clicking on the radio button next to the device. This will populate the fields with the information; alternatively you can enter the information manually then click "Add" to finish the process.

 

UPnP

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. From the menu on the left under the advanced section choose UPnP.
  5. Check or uncheck UPnP.
  6. Select Apply.

 

DMZ

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. From the menu on the left under the advanced section select WAN Setup.
  5. Check the box next to Default DMZ Server.
  6. Enter the Xbox’s IP address into the boxes.
  7. Click Apply.

 

Disable DMZ

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. From the menu on the left under the advanced section select WAN Setup.
  5. Uncheck the box next to Default DMZ Server.
  6. Click Apply.

 

Port Forwarding

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. From the menu on the left select Services under Security.
  5. Select Add Custom Service
  6. In the following Screen enter a name “Xbox”. Set the type to Both. Set both the Start Port and Finish Port to 3074.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Select Firewall Rules on the left side menu.
  9. Select Add under Inbound Services.
  10. Select Xbox from the Service drop down.
  11. Select ALLOW Always from the Action drop down.
  12. Type in the Xbox’s IP Address for Send to LAN Server.
  13. Select Any for WAN Users.
  14. Click Apply.
  15. Select Apply at the bottom of the Firewall Rules page.

 

Disable Port Forwarding

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. Select Firewall Rules on the left side menu.
  5. Select the rule you want to remove.
  6. Click Delete.
  7. Select Apply.

 

 Firewall

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. From the menu on the left select Basic Settings.
  5. Check the Disable Firewall box for NAT.
  6. Click Apply.

 

 

How to Find Firmware Version

  1. Open web browser.
  2. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  3. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  4. Select Router Status from the menu on the left.
  5. The firmware version is on this page labeled Firmware Version.

 

Firmware Update

Auto Update

  1. Plug the computer into a LAN port via an ethernet cable.
  2. Open web browser.
  3. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  4. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  5. If the setting is turned on the Netgear Smart Wizard will automatically search for updates upon login, if an update is available click install.

Manual Update

  1. Plug the computer into a LAN port via an ethernet cable.
  2. Open web browser.
  3. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  4. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  5. Select Router Upgrade from the menu on the left.
  6. In an alternate web browser or tab go to www.NETGEAR.com and download the updated software. If not done automatically, uncompress the file.
  7. Go back to the firmware tap click Browse.
  8. Locate and select the file you just downloaded and uncompressed.
  9. Click Upload to send the software to the router. This loads the new software in the router and causes the router to restart. Note: Do not try to go online, turn off the router, shutdown the computer or do anything else to the router until the router finishes restarting! When the Ready light stops blinking, wait a few more seconds before doing anything.
  10. Click Router Status and check the Firmware Version to verify that your router now has the new software installed.

 

Restore Factory Defaults

Through firmware

  1. Plug the computer into a LAN port via an ethernet cable.
  2. Open web browser.
  3. Login to router by entering http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar
  4. The router will then prompt you to enter the user name and password. The default user name and password are: "admin", "password".
  5. From the left hand menu select Backup Settings.
  6. Select the Erase option under where it says Revert to factory default settings.

Through Hardware

  1. Plug the computer into a LAN port via an ethernet cable.
  2. Locate the reset button on the device.
  3. With paperclip/pen/toothpick hold down the reset button down for 30 seconds.
  4. Wait for lights to turn off then return to normal.

Multiple Console Support

We have confirmed that this network device is unable to support more than one console with an Open NAT. 

 

Known Issues

This device also has a feature called NAT Filtering which should always be changed to Open. This feature is on the WAN Setup page.
