Playing old games on a new console? Any help please?

I was just wondering if this is possible.

I have the new 250GB Xbox and I also have 2 accounts, one which is activate and one which isn't really.  I have downloaded items such as Arcade game, Games on Demand & Indie games from both accounts using spare microsoft points and what not, and so far i have been able to play them like a charm on my Xbox360, no problems at all, doesnt matter what account I downloaded them from.

I understand no content can be transferred between accounts but then I also understand that if a arcade game, indie game or full 'game on demand' was bought on a console, any account should be able to access it, but only on that console, right?

but what if I bought a new Xbox360 at any time (or for example my xbox broke down and i got sent a new one), logged onto both my accounts, downloaded all the games and items i had onto the new console, would I be able to play them without problem or would i have to buy them all again?? (which i think would be crazy as i've spent over £100 on things on the marketplace).... What happens in this scenario?? Is there a way to make them playable on new consoles and what not?

any help or advice would be nice. thanks.

When you purchase content it's tied to your gamertag and the console it was purchased on. When you buy a new console you can transfer the game to the console or redownload it from your download history for free. You can do a license transfer to transfer the license from the previous console to the new console so that all the games will continue to work the same way (http://xbox.com/drm)
