Your Console is connected to the internet but cant contact Xbox Live

For some reason my xbox live connection started acting up last night when i was playing with my friend like it kept disconnecting me from xbox live every 10 mins so i just did the connect test and it let me back on it was like glitched i thought i was getting hacked but i had no computers on. So i went to sleep then i woke up and now it wont let me get on at all this is the message i keep getting


Your Console is connected to the internet but can't contact Xbox Live.

Your router or ISP may be blocking access to Xbox LIVE.

On your PC, go to your router configuration webpage and make sure port 3074 is open on your firewall. If it is open, it may be blocked outside your home network Contact your ISP.

If you're not familiar with networking, you can get help with firewall ports at www.xbox.com/networkhelp.

Now i don't know how to get to my firewall but no one has touched it since like forever so this just happend last night and i dont have a router i just have a modem and its Rogers it has like 4 ports to put the internet plug thingy in. so how do i switch my ports and stuff?

It's not your router so don't bother it m/s...my ISP is not blocking live because when I hook up my xbox thur Ethernet direct too modem it will connect...

Well its connect to my modem it just doesn't work but it works now like out of the random it started working.

i was playing fine yesterday this started happening today i was playing fine in the morning but now in the afternoon it doesnt lemme connect to xbox live:(

yeah mine says the same thing

YOUR ROUTER OR ISP MAY be blocking acedd to xbox live

its says this fo about 3 hours now. do i need to do anything or can i just leave it and it will fix itself?

Same thing is happening to me, I was able to connect fine before the dashboard update and ever since I'm getting the same "your console is connected to the internet but can't connect to Xbox Live" message. Way to go M$.

It's Xbox Live - not your own system. Tons of people cannot log on right now - wait and keep trying. The update seemed to cause some issues with their servers.

That, or they're just overloaded

It will be fixed by next week. They have the same team that created the new website working feverishly on it.

so what your saying is now i cant play on xbox live for a week because some genious *** up the update and thru that my connection to xbox live .... awsome...
