LOCKED - Xbox Account Hacked - Microsoft No Help At All

Quick post to vent the issue I have just experienced with Microsoft support.

So around two weeks ago my Xbox Live account got hacked and some unscrupulous f***er bought 10,000 Microsoft points on my account (£84 worth). I realised this pretty much immediately and reported it immediately and the account then got locked down. So assuming that Microsoft would find the culprits and see the issue, i was looking forward to getting my account back and my money back from the unauthorised sales.

Instead what has happened is two weeks later, Microsoft have reported there was NO unauthorised access, therefore indicating they think that I was the one who bought 10,000 Microsoft points, spent them all on Black Ops expansion packs, then called up to report a fake access to lose my access to Xbox Live for two weeks, you know, just for a laugh...

I am slightly lost for words at how exactly this can happen, and now have to instead call my bank and beg that they don't take the money from me (all after they had to cancel my credit card and send me a new one because of the fraudulent activity). Quite frankly I think this is a total joke and am incredibly disappointing that I spend so much money with Microsoft on various products to be a victim of what is gross incompetence.

If anyone else suffers an issue such as this, I would urge you to make it patently clear to the investigators what has happen and ask them to contact you personally, as this quite frankly is unacceptable.

I'm sorry this has happpened to you. However you were not hacked, you were most likely phished as you either gave your details away or you went on a phising  website.

Do you live alone? If NOT, then likely someone bought the points from YOUR xbox, meaning the investigation would turn up "No unauthorized access" as you would have the same IP address and XBox serial number.

We get people claiming their little brother/sister bought the points. Heck I once saw someone claiming their CAT bought points. Meow.

In answer to the above. I assume phising could be a possible explanation, but I have NEVER given my login details away, and I am very careful online, so feel like this could of been an unlikely option.

Secondly I got hacked whilst I was ONLINE playing FIFA, I also am the only one who uses my XBOX so it was defo not someone else buying the points.

Finally even if I was phished, surely as I reported it Microsoft should remove the remaining points and credit me my money back? Or am I to understand that because someone potentially ripped me off online then I am completely out of pocket as a result?

Couldn't you call the bank and check your recent history? Then go from there?

No, they have only had THREE map packs released so far for a total of 3600 ms points. There are gamer pictures and themes for Black Ops but even those with the map packs wouldn't total 10,000 ms points.

Rox Shox I feel your pain.  I was also ripped off $125 of MS Points back in January and MS has yet to refund my money, but my XBL account I have had since the original Xbox is locked during their "investigation".  No one was at my home when these points were purchased and somehow trasferred from my account.  We were out of town and I only knew the purchases took place from my email notification on my phone.  I called Xbox as soon as I got home from my trip to find them less than helpful.  Only after much assistance did they start investigating this.   They kept trying to tell me someone had to buy the points from my Xbox, which was impossible.  No one else has my account information either. Its amazing how this happened only once as well.  I have read in many forums about this happening to alot of people and MS doing little to nothing to help.  I read the account security tips and I have not reset my password or given any information about my account to anyone.  MS just needs to admit there is an issue and be done with it.  I have received a message from the team that investigates these problems to only be given the 800 number to call to respond to their message.  Funny thing is that the normal phone support people have no help to offer and cannot xfer me to the actual people I was supposed to call back.  This is very frustrating.  I even told them I would take the 10000 points back at this point so I would at least get something for the money stolen.  To have these points purchased fraudulently and then just to disappear should be a sign of a problem.  Unfortunately, all I can do at this point is call them often and hope that finally someone helps me.  Also I would highly recommend never putting a credit card on file.  This would have prevented alot.  Never assume MS, or anyone else for that matter, will keep your information safe. My gamertag is MikeHoncho X007, btw.  I just signed up for a silver account to be able to reply.  Good luck to you!

OP: While I can sympathize with you here, this is not the proper venue for venting about your account. If you have an issue with this resolution, I would suggest contacting phone support to get more information. We cannot look into your account history as in-depth here on the forums, in addition to the fact that phone support already completed an investigation. I'm sorry for all the trouble, but calling them back is the only way to get resolution here.
