How to get the free 1 month gold trial

Hi everyone, I'm new here and quite frustrated. I was told that when signing up for a new XBL account that I would get an offer for 1 month of free gold status. I've created two separate gamertags on my console, but I'm never prompted for the 30 day trial. In fact, I'm not prompted for anything to do with membership when signing up, I'm just automatically put on silver status.

I've just bought the console, it's the limited edition halo 4 320 GB Xbox 360. I can't for the life of me figure out why it's not being offered. Can someone please help me?

Hey Vibroplex, thanks for the quick response.

So I went through it again, and it told me to input my first name, email address, and password for live accounts. After that it told me to confirm my information and took me to a screen that asked if I wanted promotional emails from Microsoft and/or their partners. The next screen for accepting the terms and conditions, and then it told me what my temporary gamertag was and how I could change it. After I pressed "OK" it took me back to the dash and that was the end of it.

This happend to me, I was told that some consoles don't come up with the gold status. The retailer is supposed to give you a reedemable card to activate 1 month, try talking to xbox support to get a reference code so you can give it to them.

Hope I helped!

Take he console back to the retailer, Xbox Support has no ability to help with this issue. Tell them the console is supposed to come with a free one month account, and yours did not.

Greetings, MisterFuzzykins. Did you bypass the option to input your billing information? You'd need to add this in order to get the month free. Let me know if you think this might be the case!

Hi everyone, thanks for the responses!

Mister Darcy: I don't think I was ever prompted to enter my billing information when I signed up, it just set me up automatically at silver. Do I have to set up my billing info BEFORE I make the live account? Or can I even do that?

Vibroplex: I'll try calling Future Shop and see what's going on. If they need me to bring it in then I will.

I know this isn't that big of a deal, but I really would like to get a taste of XBL before I commit to a whole year (I'd go for the bulk package because it's cheaper).

CodeName47 there is a very fussy way to get the free month; see my 11/11 post above.

This is for brand new Microsoft Accounts only!

Make a new local gamer profile from Social on the Xbox console

Go to the center tile of Home and choose Join Xbox Live

Enter your first name & Microsoft Account addresse

Accept offer, sign up for Xbox LIVE Gold 1 month instead of Enter Code & proceed with subscription

When No, Thanks appears, take that option: Your free one month offer will appear.

So, if you already had a gamertag, you would never see the offer.

And, OBTW, using this forum for support works best if you don't piggyback on other posts, but create your own original thread with a new post.
