OK this I've been having this problem the last few days and nothing seems to fix it. Every time I turn on my Xbox my Internet disconnects and when it finally connects it disconnects immediately after than when I turn off my Xbox my internet connection comes back. I've heard things from I need a dsl filter to my MTU is to low. When I run the Xbox connection test I get to the internet portion and it always fails. I have a wired connection and I've tried everything from getting a static IP to formatting my hard drive. I've tried everything imaginable and nothing has even made any progress.

Your network doesn't have a sufficient MTU setting. Xbox Live requires a minimum MTU setting of 1364.
On your PC, go to your router configuration web page and set the MTU to auto, or 1364 or higher. If that doesn't work, disconnect your console from the router and connect directly to the modem. Get help on the web with MTU settings at www.xbox.com/networkhelp.
My MTU settings are set at 1500 by default and I've tried connecting my Xbox directly to my modem, hasn't worked.

I have this exact problem. Cleared cache, tested IPs, MTU, DMZ, uPNP, firewall, restored things to factory settings, tested different cables, straight to modem, contacted ISP etc etc and nothing! Help much appreciated as I have spent hours and hours trying to fix this. Thanks

I think I have just joined you guys - have done all the tests, unplugged and repugged cables, switching xbox on and off, switching router on and off. Done about everything possible at my end and still not able to connect to xbox live.

I think it's the recent system update, I heard something about if you're Xbox gets bricked they send you a new one. But I think that was for the older models from 2005 or so. I'm gunna give Microsoft a call tomorrow and see if they could give me an answer. I'll be sure to post a solution if they give me one.

Rig, have you called your ISP about this issue yet? If not, please do so, and be sure to mention the MTU error.
