AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M series on Windows 8

Hello,

I've just installed Windows 8 pro on my computer (1 year old, sony VAIO, W7 Pro, installation:keep nothing) but some device are not working:
AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M series is not working

Device Status:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.

I tried to update the driver but it said it is already updated.

I tried to download AMD driver autodetect but it is not able to install it (the version of your grpahic adapter is not supported...) (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx)

I used Windows Update to update everything.

I used http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx, the installation was successful but i still have the same problem.

Also, I have an unknown device on the device manager list.

Any suggestions?

Answer
Actually on my bios i dont have the option to change

Oops.  I'm forgetting that this is a Sony.   Possibly with an AGP card.   What specific model?

i installed the new CCC beta 12 and he installed a new driver  AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series and the CCC is working, but i can use him, my catalyst control manager is empty, dont have any option there

Did you see the AMD Release Notes?

The Installation Verification Software is designed to prevent driver download on certain notebook products. This is to help protect against the installing of drivers that may disable features or functionality provided by the system manufacturer.

The following notebooks are not compatible with this release:

Sony VAIO notebooks (please contact the notebook OEM for driver support for these notebooks)

I suspect that means that you will have an even harder time trying to find a workaround than people who have a BIOS that can disable the switchable graphics feature.

BTW someone else showed me that the ATI\Support directory was empty but I just realized that may not be significant because it might be called  AMD  now.   So, where did it go?   If you can't find a log concerning your install you could uninstall and reinstall while running ProcMon.   That would show you where stuff was going (or any diagnostics being created if it wasn't going anywhere.)

HTH
