why do my apps on my windows 8 desktop not open after a while?

Not sure if I had asked this question before but why does my apps on my windows 8 desktop stop working after a while?  I use them great but then after a period of time I click on them and nothing comes up so I have to reinstall everything which is a pain in the you know what every time.  Don't want to keep having to do this, there has to be a reason.  All apps like mail, news, bing, weather, etc.  all apps that I have installed like that.  Any clues?  Why do they work for a period of time then stop?  Doesn't make any sense to me.  Thanks for any help.

If I understood you, you are speaking about metro apps. When you open metro app it stays opened for a while and after some time (not using them and running in background) windows kills them.

Maybe windows still thinks they are open and doesn't want to open new one. Can you see apps in this app preview on the left side of screen?

I use my Mail app every single day and my Facebook app.  The weather app not every day but still both the mail app and my facebook app won't open after a period of time and, like I said I use these all the time.

Do you have powerful enough pc to run windows 8? And I was talking about time period of 30 minutes of not using app, I am not sure how windows manages that or how it decides to kill apps.

Ok, so definitely it isn't hardware problem. Try troubleshooting MS Store.

I wanted to ask about the windows defender and windows firewall.  I have ESET NOD32 antivirus and love this software.  I have to pay for it but it works a lot better then any other I have had  I want to keep this so should I disable the windows defender and windows firewall that you say are already installed on my computer?  I don't want these anyways, I will stick with my ESET all the time.  How do I disable those 2 if I don't want to use them?  Maybe they are conflicting with my ESET at times.  I don't need them now that I have the ESET right?  Let me know and thank you.

I am having the same issue and I can NOT see my apps on the left side (when my mouse cursor is at the top left corner).  Please help.  This is so frustrating because I would rather not have Windows 8 but I do.
