I can do without the condescenion. I'm sorry that after the couple years I've had this OS, I'm still finding things that worked fine on previous OS that were subsequently screwed up by MS programmers.
The link that you gave me does not answer the question. It tell how to close a session, not finalize a cd.

Hi,
Thanks for the update.
I’m sorry if I have offended you. Let me assure you that it wasn’t my intention to do so.
I would like to inform you that if you burn a CD from Windows Explorer, it won’t finalize it. You can try using different software to finalize the CD.
Try the Windows DVD Maker. Refer to the following links to learn how to burn CD/DVD using Windows DVD Maker.
Burn a DVD-Video disc with Windows DVD Maker
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Burn-a-DVD-Video-disc-with-Windows-DVD-Maker
Change Windows DVD Maker DVD-Video settings
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-Windows-DVD-Maker-DVD-Video-settings
If you used a third party software to burn the CD/DVD, it would be best to contact their support teams for further assistance.
Please get back to us with the results.

Manasa was NOT condescending!
Please realize you are being helped by volunteers who do this out of the goodness of their hearts. We are not Microsoft employees. If you do not like the way someone speaks to you, you need to find someone you can pay to treat you the way you wish.

I don't really see how she was condescending, sounds to me like someone just trying to help.
Anyway, it looks like the answer is that it simply can't be done. If you wrote to a disk using the Windows live file format, then even if you use special burning software like Roxio, you cannot finalize the CD. So if you need to finalize your CD, throw out the one you already started with the built in Windows burning software, and then start over with some other burning software.
See this question on the Roxio forums for a little explanation:
