Windows 7 will not find text in xml tags.

I am trying to use Windows 7 search to find some text in xml files.  It will find text that is not surrounded by angle brackets but won't find any text inside the angle brackets.  For example it will find "First_Name" but will not find <First_Name>.  If I just search for First_Name it will find nothing and if I search for <First_Name> it will find anything inside angle brackets.  I looked in the advanced indexing settings and it searches using an "XML Filter".  Is there any way to change the "XML Filter" to the basic text file search?  Oddly it will find <First_Name> in xsd (schema) files.

I’d recommend you to follow “Method 1” from the following article:

 

Using the "A word or phrase in the file" search criterion may not work

 

Note Some applications may not work correctly after making the changes.

 

Additionally, make a note that indexing options for XML files use the XML Filter, which specifically indexes ONLY the contents and not the structure of the XML.
