Windows 10 Event ID 56

I have purchased a retail Windows Pro 10. I have just one Event Viewer error log after every boot.

I am normally quite good at identifying Event ID's but I cannot find any information regarding this one. I have formatted twice, installed just the drivers and I received this after both clean formats. How can I resolve this if it does not tell me anything? What is ACPI 5?

Everything is okay in Device manager, any assistance would be greatly appreciated. My motherboard is the Asus Z170 Deluxe.

You are correct it doesn't. I did not even bother replying to the answer I received because they obviously did not bother reading my initial question fully.

Most answers from support here are quite poor.

Are you receiving the same error Grizzly?

I have the same exact problem.  Every reboot of windows 10 home.  I built a brand new system using z170 motherboard and i5-6600k.  I have replaced the motherboard from ASrock z170 to an Asus z170, the power supply, graphics card and memory to see if they may be causing the issue but none of them had any effect.

Also have tried multiple fresh installs of Windows 10.

Hi guys, I have the exact same error only on boot and from what I can gather it seems to be related to a driver based on the z170 / skylake chipset?  I have an asus z170 pro gaming motherboard and a 6700k processor.  It's not just windows 10 related problem either as I installed it on windows 7 previously and had the same error event ID 56  although it's description was slightly different stated I had an invalid ID child device.  I have tried everything guys I thought it may have had something to do with the inbuilt igpu on the chip but that was turned off in bios and their is no indication of any issues in device manager.  I tried uninstalling and re-installing usb devices, changed power options and have all the latest bios and chipset drivers and I am at a loss. I have contacted Asus and awaiting for them to investigate further.

Hi Dean

Thanks for your input too. I wonder if it is common on all the new Asus boards.

Could you please keep us updated on this thread if you receive any information from Asus? Much appreciated and just hope it's something and nothing to resolve.

Cheers.

As as I mentioned in my post above this is not just effecting Asus boards it also happened when I used a ASrock extreme 6 Z170 board with a i5-6600k processor.

Ah right, sorry I missed that bit. I was viewing the thread on a small screen on my phone.

I guess it must be something common to all Z170 chipsets then, unless some Z97 owners come forward.

No worries guys we will either work this one out without the help of microsoft together or maybe we just have to wait for an updated driver!  Asus have stated they have limited information and knowledge of this error and they are escalating the issue higher within their technical department and may take some time to have a response on this one.  I understand it may not be an Asus specific problem but it's definitely related to z170 chipset as that is one thing we all have in common here so far.  In the mean time lets try some options for ourselves.  If any of you are using the integrated graphics of the cpu can you try and download the igpu vga driver for the chipset and post back to see if this suppresses the error?

Hi Dean thanks for the feedback. I agree with you we will work it out. Are they aware of the growing thread about the issue? At least Asus have made a move on it.

I formatted Windows 10 yesterday and the error was there before I installed anything so it is not software related.

I am using a Titan X so I have no igpu drivers installed. Should I try installing them alongside my main gpu and see if the error goes? I have had all the previous gen cpu's and never used the igpu or installed their dedicated drivers and not seen this error before.
