Cycle through objects in Powerpoint

I have two text boxes that I would like to appear repeatedly on a PowerPoint slide. For example I want box one to appear for five seconds, then box two, then box one again, box two, etc. This needs to appear on each slide in the presentation so I can't set it up with each box on a separate slide and then repeat the show.

Can anyone suggest a way to do this?

Thanks

Bill
I guess I am a bit unsure as to what exactly you are trying to do, but it sounds like you might be able to simply add the two boxes to the slide master (View-->Slide Master), and animate them. I think I am missing something...

Thanks Heather:

I have them animated so I can show box 1 , then box 2 but I'm not sure how to set the animation so it continues with box 1, box 2, box 1, box 2, etc. until I stop the presentation.

This wouldn't be too difficult with a bit of VBA.  If you'll play this on your own PC or one where you're more or less a trusted user, that'd be the way to go.

If it's to distribute to John Doe and Jane Random, then you can't be sure their security settings will permit the VBA to work.

Bill, simply put, there's no way (well apart from programming new animations) to have a series of animations repeat in a loop on one slide. Hope I'm wrong and someone knows better.

If you just need two texts to loop the easiest way is to make (have made?) an animated gif.

This demo shows what I mean.

Well, I was going to suggest using the Emphasis animation "Transparency" and setting the transparency to 100%, and then setting the Timing to "repeat," but I just checked and "repeat" is not an option for that particular animation. Grrrr...

I am not sure there is a way to easily do what you are describing. Someone please correct me. This is going to bug me all day long now.

If the background is not a problem, here's how I got it to work. (I can send the file):
- Make two boxes (or objects) next to each other.
- Duplicate the box on the right and cover the box on the left with the duplicate. Make the duplicate  look like the background if necessary as this is just your cover for the box on the left.
- Group the cover box and the right box.
- Add an Emphasis animation: Blink, to the group.
- Under timing, set duration to 5 seconds, and set repeat  to: Until end of slide.
Now when you run the show, one will appear to go away while the other remains, alternately until you advance the slide. Copy and paste the objects to the next slide to repeat, or put the objects on your master. Replicating the background with the cover may present a problem, but should work on a flat color.

I like the idea and I got it to work but I'm not sure if it will work for my specific application. I have been asked to create a presentation for a kiosk with a ticker tape on the bottom. I have create the text box with the ticker using the Fly-in animation but there is a list of 146 names which is causing problems. The slowest animation setting is 59 seconds and the names literally fly by. I thought of splitting the list in two and using two boxes, one on top of the other. That is the germ of request.

I will try it with a shorter list and see if I can sync the boxes.

You CAN set the animation time to greater than 59 secs by zoom out of the timeline and dragging the end marker in the advanced timeline if this helps.
