New Console = Failed to Connect?

I had a console get the red lights of failure about a month ago. I just recently purchased one of the newer elites. I don't have a transfer cable to transfer all my old hard drive information to my new hard drive. Could the new console be preventing me from accessing EA servers? Or are the servers so bad that no one can connect?

it shouldn't but check out your settings. If the console has family setting set so that you are too young, you won't be able to connect to EA servers...

I'm assuming you recovered your GT...

I had the same problem with BF:BC2. Wouldn't allow me to play the game online. Don't think you need a transfer cable though. I was able to do everything from this very website awhile back. Just transfered everything from the old xbox serial number to the new xbox serial number. There might be another easier way, but that's how I did it.

The transfer cables are usually meant for people with no internet access.  All your information should be stored on the xbox live servers and transferred to your console when you activate your gamer tag on your new machine.  Make sure your network settings are all correct and that you can access xbox live.

yes you need to Transfer Content Licenses

but if your old xbox turns on powers up even with the red lights, it's fixable... send it to Clovis Xbox Repair, that guy will fix it or send back one that works costs less than $80... look him up on the utubes, his rants on other repair places is funny.

This didn't work. It won't automatically do it upon the recovery of his gamertag. I agree, it should work like this, but I still had to make the transfer happen myself. He's going to need to input the serial number of the new Xbox in order to transfer all the license content, especially if he ever wants to play Battlefield online again. That's my experience anyway. I tried recovering my gamertag multiple times and still could not gain access to the EA servers. Finally figured out that I had to do it myself and now, no more problems. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying that what you suggest didn't work like it sounds like it should.
