HDMI splitter and Xbox One?

The lack of pass through is kind of an issue. I don't want my family to have to turn on the xbox, then tell it to start TV when in the past all they had to do was turn on the TV to watch it.

We have comcast, and we have a cable box. I was pleased to discover the xbox one does a very good job of controlling the cable box as if it was a remote control. I'd like to continue to use it with live tv but I need to be able to connect the cable box right to the TV as well. My idea is to pick up an HDMI splitter and split the hdmi from the cable box to both the xbox and the TV. The xbox will then of course also connect to the TV through a different HDMI input.  This way the person watching TV can choose which input and choose to have xbox one enhance the experience or go traditional.

My concern is the xbox one will not be able to communicate back along the hdmi to the cable box through a splitter. Has any one tried this, are there any splitter brands that some one might recommend?

Hi. I am planning to do the same. This one here looks pretty nice, review is good:

You can get it for around 20 Euros, will order my one  today.

I'm using exactly this setup for the same reasons. Cable box to a splitter with one output going to the TV while the other goes through the Xbox and this is working perfect.

For info; I'm using a Neet 2-way HDMI splitter (1 in 2 out). It supports 1080p Full HD and 3D. The splitter is powered (not sure if that makes any difference or not).

I orderd this splitter yesterday and i will test it tonight. I am quite sure, that it will run. But i am not sure if this splitter a allows a communication in the other direction. For us in germany it doesn't matter becaus we don 't have the One Guide. :(

RagdollHero I was just hoping you could clarify, the xbox can still change the channel on your cable box through the splitter correct?

I picked up a siig 1x2 hdmi splitter from microcenter today. Like Ragdoll's Neet 2 way splitter it has a dedicated power supply and will put the image on two displays at once. It works flawlessly and the xbox one was still able to control my cable box with out issue.
