How to claim my one-month free trial of Xbox LIVE Gold?

Hi,

I just got a Xbox for the first time. I logged in with my existing gamertag which I created some time ago on Games for Windows Live. I know that new owners of Xbox get one month of Gold for free, but I received no prompt or code for it. I've never used Xbox LIVE before, and my gamertag and email has never been associated with Xbox LIVE Silver or Gold. Does anyone know how I can get my one-month trial? Thanks in advance.

It's only new accounts created on the console that get the freebie one month. Up to three accounts can get the freebie on any one console too.

That's too bad. I could create a new account, but I'd rather have the achievements I've earned from my old one. I don't see why users should be punished for having an account already, though. I mean, it did say on the box that the Xbox comes with the one-month trial...

yes for new USERS not existing users of live

a games for windows account is still a live account

Right, but Games for Windows Live is for Windows. It doesn't have a subscription fee.

So how it works now is that if you play a GFWL Windows game before you do an Xbox game, you don't get the trial. I don't see why the order should matter. These two services have two different subscription models and they shouldn't  affect one another.

no a gamesforwindows live account is a LIVE account as with zune and xbox live

as stated trials are for new accounts only

not preexisting live accounts and has to be created on the console not on a computer

trials are only for new accounts

i bought my 1st xbox and bagage says that 1 month free gold. I created my 1st live account but still nothing...

i signed up for first time xbox gold for the free 1 month trial... and after about 12 hours it said my time had expired
