Gamertag Problems

Well.. I recently tried to change my gamertag to something i'd really like, but unfortunately it said it was taken. I sent a friend request to the gamertag, and it came up as unavailable.

Even before making this thread i checked a second time on xbox.com, but still it says its taken.

 

Now, I'm wondering if someone could help me figure out whats happening?

It is probably being transferred from the Original Xbox, it may take awhile to be updated, but it also may be used for Zune as well.

edit, when i check on xbox.com it comes up as "Your request could not be completed at this time. This gamertag is not valid."

not sure how to quote on these forums but..

could this just possibly be a fluke in the system?

and is there a way to check if its been registered on zune/xbox?

It it tells you it's in use, then it's in use somewhere on one of Microsoft's services. The only true way to find out is by trying to change your name to it.
