Extender keeps disconnecting from xbox live

Hello, Recently i got a new extender as i moved my xbox to a new location in my house, it was then unable to connect because the modem was too far away, so we bought a Netgear Wireless Range Extender WN2000RPT2, it works fine for the 1st 10-20 mins before going into strict NAT type. Never had i experienced that with just my normal modem then after a while it disconnects from xbox live and the only other way to get back online is turn reboot my xbox. My thought is that the extender has a different NAT to my modem, but i can't access my extender because mywifiext.net doesn't work.

Hey Aussie Werewolf,

I noticed that you left your connection information off of the end of that post.  But, first things first, If you are getting a NAT error, you may want to do a restart of your full home network hardware, including the modem, router, and extender.

There are steps for How to open NAT to resolve Party and Multiplayer problems in the forums here which may help with the issue, if it's not related to the communication between extender and router.

Give that a shot, and let us know the results.

Thanks!

Hey

Sorry to say but that forum didn't help, i still get a strict NAT type, reading that forum I'm not sure if its double NATing or the router and the extender are interfering with each other. Would you like me to post the connection info at the end of the post?

As a test can you connect direct to your router bypassing the extender? I'm not a fan of extenders I don't think they do  much good to be honest but it shouldn't be affecting your NAT status, connecting direct to the router will tell us more

No, I cannot connect direct to the router because it is too far away and there are no other cables in the house where i can plug the router into. When i did have my xbox near my router it connected fine with an open NAT, but i don't want my xbox there thats why i bought an extender because where i moved my xbox, it can't connect directly to the router as its too far away, thus there being a brick wall to get through. The extenders connection is 3/4 bars if that helps.

Hmmm I mean there's nothing really to configure on the extender really nothing that would change your NAT anyway. Have you tried turning off UPnP and using port forwarding instead?

I tried that twice to make sure there is nothing I did wrong, but sadly it didn't work. I contacted my ISP about the constant disconnecting and he said it could be faulty wiring inside the house. But that doesn't have anything to do with strict NAT does it?

No it doesn't it won't affect your NAT. Well its very odd, there's certainly nothing on the extender that I can see would cause a problem, personally if wireless distance is an issue I would consider using homeplugs/powerline adapters instead of an extender

Okay I will try that, perhaps i will have to move my xbox back to its original positions also while looking in my router configuration i found that i had many erros such as:  TFTP Request Retries exceeded, CM unable to register, DHCP RENEW WARNING - Field invalid in response v4 option;CM-MAC=00:8e:f2:42:79:88;CMTS-MAC=00:21:a0:ce:38:78;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0. and  ToD request sent - No Response received;CM-MAC=00:8e:f2:42:79:88;CMTS-MAC=00:21:a0:ce:38:78;CM-QOS=1.0;CM-VER=3.0.

Are these errors normal?

Those errors look like they relate to the voice side of your router as you can connect phones to it, they won't be related to NAT or your Xbox

I moved my xbox back next to the modem and have had an open NAT ever since, but i still disconnect, but like the ISP said thats because there could be faulty wiring so yeah hes coming out tomorrow.
