Chatpad not working (but is connected)

Connected my chatpad to a regular Microsoft xbox 360 controller (that came with my 4g kinect bundle), and the keyboard lights up when I push buttons, but it doesn't type any of the letters (I have tried redeeming codes and sending messages).

So then I connected it to the Microsoft xbox 360 controller than came with my Gears of War bundle, and once again the keyboard lights up when I push buttons, but it doesn't type any of the letters.

The chatpad is connected fully, both of the little nubs on the back bottom edges are inside the corresponding holes on the controller, no amount of pressure can move the chatpad any close to the controller.  Plus, the buttons light up when I push them...

Is there anything I can do?

I am connected to xbox live, and have updated both of my consoles.

Do you use a wireless mic?

No wireless mic.  I have a wired mic that came with the XBL/chatpad/mic package, but do not have that plugged in when I am attempting to use the chatpad.

How long have you owned the chatpad? It sounds like it my need to be replaced, unfortunately. Do you have another one (maybe a friend's?) that you can try?

Maybe one of its an internal problem, you may have dropped it.

I purchased it, and plugged it in immediately (I wanted to use the QWERTY keyboard to type in my Xbox Live account number), but it did not work.  Is this just something that I need to RMA?  Seems like way too much work for such a small item...

I would actually advise returning it to the retailer you purchased it from for the easiest service. :)

I was having trouble with this, but the idiot i am I was not pushing it in hard enough.  I couldn't put any mire pressure on until I looked on the sides and there was space, I pushes it in and it was fine

I have three different controller and have tried three different brands of chatpads and two consoles and have yet to see letter one come out of these PITAs.  What the heck.  If snap it is the only instruction the chatpad has some sort of design flaw.  Do I need to break out my vice to connect the chatpad to the controller.  How much damage to the controller am I risking if I go ahead and use a ridiculous amount of force?

Folks, one thing that I tried when this problem came up is this: [Mod Removed- Please see Xbox forum guidelines] , I had success. Good luck!
