Blue Screen AND Google Redirect Virus?!?! STOP code: 0x000000AD (0x00000001, 0x00000006, 0x85879410, 0x00000000)

Original title: Blue Screen of Death AND Google Redirect Virus?!?!
 Hey guys! :)

So as of last night, my computer has been experiencing many problems that seem to just get worse and worse.

It started with a Google search that I was doing; I must have clicked on a bad link or something because then my computer kept asking me for permission to install some sort of .exe file (I don't remember what it was called but I knew it was sketchy so I clicked 'cancel,' but the prompt continued to pop up whenever I tried to close it.) I then closed Firefox and the pop-up stopped, but then shortly after, a message came up on my screen saying:

'A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
etc. etc.'

STOP code: 0x000000AD (0x00000001, 0x00000006, 0x85879410, 0x00000000)

Upon further research I found out that I got the unfortunate Blue Screen of Death, which now appears every time I try to restart my computer.

I performed a System Restore to an earlier time that day, did a malware scan using Hitman Pro 3.5 which detected a bunch of malware that I deleted, but the BSOD still persists. Later on in the night, I was unable to run any .exe files and kept getting a "The dependency service or group failed to start" error message, but thankfully that issue is gone today (or at least for now...)

In addition to that issue, I also have the Google Redirect Virus, which I suspect is related to my BSOD problem. I first got it a couple of weeks ago and successfully managed to remove it with Hitman Pro but now it's back with a vengeance. I've done multiple scans with Hitman Pro with no results, I tried running the Device Manager looking for TDSSserv.sys with no luck and I'm starting to feel like there's no hope :(

I'm not extremely knowledgeable in computers so absolutely any help would be greatly appreciated! I am also running Windows Vista on an HP Pavillion laptop if that is useful information.

Thanks again! :)

hi

try this program to remove it

download update and scan with the free version of malwarebytes anti-malware

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

you should also download and run rkill to stop the problem process before downloading and scanning with malwarebytes

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill

if it does not remove the problem and or work correctly in normal mode do the above work in safe mode with networking

Windows Vista

Using the F8 Method:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts you will see your computer's hardware being listed. When you see this information start to gently tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theWindows Vista Advanced Boot Options.
  3. Select the Safe Mode with Networking option using the arrow keys.
  4. Then press the enter key on your keyboard to boot into Vista Safe Mode.
  5. When Windows starts you will be at a typical logon screen. Logon to your computer and Vista will enter Safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you require, and when you are done, reboot to go back into normal mode.
