MTS file extension

I'm using Vista 64 and Windows Media 11.    Can't view any MTS files with this combination, but can view MTS files and video on a Windows 7/Windows Media 12 combination.   Is there any way that I can view these movies/videos on my Vista/WMP 11 setup?    The files came from my Panasonic camera.     Tried renaming the files but no success.

Unfortunately you cannot play MTS in Windows Media player 11. To know more information about the multimedia files that are supported by Windows media player 11 go through the link below.

However you can try converting the video to one of the formats mentioned in the article so that it gets recognized.
