Defrag not working properly?

Hi, I am not sure Defrag is working properly.  Laptop has 221GB space with 21GB free so 160GB info to defrag. Took 18 hours last night!  Should it take that long?   If I type Defrag.exe nothing happens.

Vista own built-in defragmenter does its defrag in the background automatically.

You don't need to do defrag manually, not to mention that it takes forever.

I use a 3rd party defrag call Auslogics.
It is widely used and recommended.
It is free.
It takes about 20 minutes to defrag.
It allows you to decide which drive to defrag.
It shows you defrag progress on screen.
It gives you summarized report at the end.

The time of Defrag will depend on your hardware , the partition size and the storage file types. Also, low disc space would cause this issue.

You may run the Disk Cleanup before Defrag. Then preform a Clean Boot , run Defrag .

In addition, I recommend that you may try to check the disk integrity - Zhen Tan (MSFT CSG)

Right click on Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator

Type SFC /scannow

press enter

The scan will take a few minutes and you will see the results regarding integrity when finished.
