Getting PCL XL error when trying to print.

Original Title: PCL XL error

I have a HP Laserjet 5M on our network.  I have a XP and Windows 7 device that prints fine, a Desktop with Windows 8 that gets the following message when I print this is what is displayed on the paper.

 PCL XL error

     Subsystem: KERNEL

     Error:  UnsupportedProtocol

    Operator:  0x0

    Position: 0

I don't see other problem/solutions that look similar.  Can anyone help?

Answer

I used the Microsoft link above to download the printing troubleshooter software. When I ran the tool it could see the printer however, it did not fix the problem. I ended up going back to the HP web site and found a complete HP 5M update file to downloaded. Once I installed this new file I am able to use the HP LaserJet 5M on the network again.
