Load USB 3 PCI E card driver when installing windows 7 from usb 3 flashdrive

Hello:  I have a usb 3 flashdrive with the windows 7 installation image on it.  It will load windows 7, but if I'm doing a clean installation, the USB 3 pci e card is not going to work unless the driver is installed.  As I understand it, this pci e card's driver will not be loaded by the Windows 7 64bit Ultimate SP1 installation disk that I have prepared on the USB 3 flashdrive.  Or, will it?

I am going on the hunch the it won't so at the outset of the installation, windows 7 offers a window that says "load drivers."  I suppose it is there that I direct the installation to another place, say another usb flashdrive with the usb 3 pci E card's drivers.

My question is after I direct windows installation to the Pci e card's driver and load it, will the USB 3 Flashdrive from which the installation is being conducted then start to work at USB 3 speed, or will I not be able to get the USB 3 PCI E card to work until Windows 7 have completed installation; in such case, I might as well use a usb 2 flashdrive?

Thank you for your consideration, comments and advice.

Answer

The driver will be available immediately just like a hard drive controller driver is when loaded that way.  Its impact on performance during installation may not be very much.  Setup spends most of its time working in memory and writing to the system drive.
