My Lexar flash drive is recognized but then disappears

I bought a Lexar TwistTurn flash drive in December.  It has functioned wonderfully with Windows XP and Vista, but my computer with Windows 7 on it has given me problems.

The computer is a Compaq that came with Windows 7 pre-installed.

When I plug the flash drive into any of the USB ports, it is recognized and autoplay starts, but about ten seconds after the autoplay window opens, it closes and the flash drive is no longer recognized.  This continues in a cycle for as long as I leave the flash drive plugged in.

I have googled this problem to death, and have found no solution.  I also contacted Lexar tech support and was told that the problem is likely being caused by the pre-installed drivers.  I have checked that my the OS is up to date (it is), as well as trying to find drivers to re-install on the manufacturer's website.  They may be there somewhere, but I have been unable to find them.

I'm pretty much at the end of my rope with this problem: please help?

Answer
Hi,

Normally usb drivers work with the inbuilt Windows drivers. Since the drive is being detected there should not be an issue with the drivers.

Method 1.
Let us Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and check if it fixes the issue automatically. refer to the article below for steps. If the issue exists move to the methods listed below.

Method 2.
I would ask you to uninstall the usb drive from the device manager and then restart the computer and re-insert the hard drive and check. Browse to the Universal Serial Bus controllers in the device manager and right click on the drive and click uninstall and restart the computer. Once the computer is restarted connect the usb drive and check.

Hope this helps.
