BSOD with KB4556799 and/or KB4552931?

Hello,

Last night, the last thing my computer did before shutting down was installing KB4556799 and KB4552931.

This morning, it BSOD'd twice in 10 minutes. Each time, I was in a browser (Firefox for the 1st BSOD and Chrome for the 2nd one. )

I could not see what the error message was as the BSOD screen with the frowning face flashed too quickly.

I immediately uninstalled both updates and the problem disappeared.

Anyone experiencing this?

No BSOD but I am having authentication issues with two of my game launchers (Steam and Rockstar), Am going to try removing updates also to see if it fixes the issues.

Thanks. Different problem indeed.

Just FYI, I have not had a single BSOD since uninstalling the two updates.

I am going to wait a few weeks and try again to install them.

Hopefully, they will be rev 2.0

My system has been a wreck since this update (KB4556799). I've had the machine for a month with no issues until this week. My system started throwing BSOD and rebooting over and over all night, to the point where I had to reset Windows to even be able to log back in. Some kind of conflict with my monitor driver, I think.

Does Microsoft monitor this thread and make suggestions to fix the mess they create? Same issue for me: endless loop of BSODs, on two separate, but same model HP desktops that are 2 years old.

Tried to uninstall Feature Updates and Quality Updates several times, always failed. Updates all drivers, firmware and BIOS. Ended up using Windows option to restore OS. Looked like it was back to normal, but after a minute or two... BSOD.

I guess I take it to someone to reinstall the OS from a disk?

*** I have to wonder if Bill Gates ever shows up at the office on a Monday only to find out his computer received an automatic update over the weekend and won't turn on and none of the boot-level utilities do squat.
