How do i use my TCL smart tv as a wireless display in windows 10 via wifi connection?

I am having issues with getting my laptop to connect to my smart tv via a wifi network, it see's it on the network, downloaded device driver software etc, tried in the taskbar options in bottom right & it won't connect to it, it shows up under projector in my devices but can't access any options for it other than remove it.
have smart tv connected to modem & set to recieve connection, it says "Ready for connection. To get started, launch Intel Wireless Display on your computer. Adapter name: Mstar Gen4  Adapter ID:......."

i downloaded this & can't even find it after it installed to be able to run it

so, ur basically telling me that both microsoft & smart tv manufacturers are using false advertising on a feature that u actually need to purchase extra hardware for to actually use?
Why can i get my Samsung tablet to mirror the screen to my tv yet my laptop needs a special "Miracast" dongle that i have to spend extra money on?

Dear PaulMiosge  I am also using TCL 65" TV with same issue...

If you have noticed that the TCL TV prompts to enter a password to pair with your windows 10 device buy Windows does not show any window to enter password.

It shows some coding issue on Microsoft's end resulting in negotiation  issue among the MSTAR Media Renderer and Windows 10.

I would suggest you to kindly try EZCast Software Free for Windows/Android Devices and you will be able to connect with your TCL TV without any issues (No hardware required).

Hope this helps although you might have already solved this :)

I have same issue but the above mentioned software does not work as the TV would require an EZcast interface to work. This would mean installing the app receiver/host on your TV in which case, the non-android TCL models cannot. So it presently does not work on the lower end TCL TVs.
