Ctrl C and Ctrl V not working.

Ctrl C and Ctrl V are not working. I have Windows 7 and Word 2007 on a HP Pavilion notebook. I have a Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard 4000. I have never been able to get Ctrl C Copy or Ctrl V paste to work.  The only keyboard shortcuts I can get to work  for these are Ctrl Insert for Copy and  Shift Insert for Paste.  I've put up with it for nearly a year now but would love to get my old shortcuts working again. Ctrl X works fine for Cut.  Thanks  Karen

Answer
I have just solved it myself by going through past posts on the forum. Problem solved. Thank you
This is what I did
In the Customize Keyboard dialog box, verify that shortcuts are assigned to
EditCopy, EditPaste, and EditCut. If necessary, you can use the dialog box
to reassign the shortcuts.

To display the Customize Keyboard dialog box:

- In the Word Options dialog box, click the Customize category, and then
click the Customize button (Word 2007/2010).

- Click the appropriate button in the Tools | Customize dialog box (Word
97-2003).
I'd been to this box many times but did not think to look for EditPaste and EditCopy.  Karen
