I installed my Word 2003 program on my new Windows 7 computer and now the Algerian font will neither display nor print. Instead I get some sort of italics or script font.
According to
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/font.aspx?FMID=914, the Algerian font is included in Office 2003 Professional, among other products. It's possible that it wasn't installed during your installation on Windows 7. I'm not sure whether Algerian is
among the "additional" fonts or the "base" fonts, but this is worth a try.
In the Programs & Features control panel, right-click Office 2003 and choose Change. On the first page of the wizard, choose Add or Remove Features. On the second page, check the box for "Choose advanced customization of applications". On the third page (which
you see only when that box is checked), expand the Office Shared Features icon. Click the Fonts icon and choose Run All From My Computer (this will select both the base fonts and the additional fonts). Click the Update button and let the wizard finish.
In Windows 7, when you click Control Panel on the Start menu if you get a window full of icons, there should be one in alphabetical order named "Programs and Features". If instead the "view by" item is set to "Category", then it's the item under "Programs"
that says "Uninstall a program" (although uninstalling is not the only thing you can use it for). In either case, click the link.
This item is strictly a Windows thing and is not visible anywhere inside Word or in other Office programs.
