14931 - What happened to Install.esd?

 I got 14931 installed a little while ago and looked in $Windows.~BT\Sources for the usual Install.esd file.  It's not there!  Wha hoppen?  Is it somewhere else or what?  Anybody know?

I got mine copied off to a network share before it restarted.  They used to always automatically delete this file after restart.  Hopefully they have not gone back to that approach.  However, my ESD file is still there after the upgrade has completed.  I think it might also get deleted if there is detected a shortage of disk space.

I am downloading Home Edition now on another Hyper-V, so I will make sure that I copy it off to the network share before I let it restart.

do you have your folder checked to show hidden files/folders?

 I found it on my other test desktop, but it sure went missing on the first PC.  I have no idea why.  I have 24 GB free after the update to 14931.  Sometimes PCs and my wife do things I think I was never meant to understand!  ;)

My install in a VM is always tight for disk space.  The ESD file is always there before the restart, but in all the time since October 2014 it has NEVER been available after the upgrade completes.  I have always assumed the tight disk space meant the system removes the ESD file as soon as it is done using it.

I always use expandable vhdx files for VMs, usually set to max 256GB. They do not grow very large installing Windows 10, but I guess because they appear large to the Guest OS they keep the ESD file.

It was there for me and I struggled with creating my first ISO from a new Insider build and finally succeeded with due diligence. I usually only created an ISO when Microsoft made them available. Rufus worked OK for me to finalize it.

What are the steps to make the ISO as I do not want it to be bootable I do not think I need Rufus.

I just want the ISO as I want to use it with a running system to update and do a clean install.

Testing things.
