Possible fees to play online.

I was just wondering if anybody who is certified to make a comment about the possibility of in addition to paying for xbox live service, their will be future fees to play certain if not all store bought xbox games online?  This has been a growing question in the community and it is unclear what is going to take place in the fall.

I have no problem with a fee, but I would hope that what I already pay for xbox live service should cover this.  And this will effect in the future what games people get because of the fees.  I for one will limit my online gaming to one game for several months if this happens.

If they can get away with it they will. If morons accept this kind of thing we'll all suffer.

Nothing more than rumors and even given so, it's up to a Developer/ Publisher to decide what if any additional fees are required, not Microsoft. If any additional fees are ever included from any one Publisher I will simply not purchase their Game.

Its the game developers that put on the fees not microsoft. You pay for XBL Gold which is different than an online membership to a specific game. Not mnay games choose to do this anyway because they wont sell as much. But like Unyo said, if they can do it and do, than oh well. In my opinion, I wouldn't mind it if I really liked the game and it would keep hackers/ modders out.

What Kauz said.  But if I do buy it, I just won't play it online.  Simple.

So basically yes if the game developers do this you will have to pay for it on top of your gold membership because MS is separate from them.

This is already happening with Pre-Owned games. Cannot see it happening when you buy a brand new game. It could happen if Activision did it, due to their massive following, millions would still buy the game and then pay for the online as well as Xbox Live and other companies would follow.

Yeah I will definitely have to cut back to one or two games a year with one being the game I pay service to.  I think a lot of poeple will do the same.

Anyone willing to pay an extra fee to play a game should ask themselves this question- Have we been getting any games worth paying monthly for? I know there's been a few good games recently but have there really been any games worth paying more than 60 bucks for? Subscription based MMOs have to keep adding content(for free) to make it worth it, do we really think the game devs are gonna be doing that as well? I know I don't believe it. Greed, that's all this is. Don't be fooled.

At Unyo, I know what you mean. And unless the game is utterly spectacular I wouldn't pay for it. I also agree with the fact that most developers will not offer free DLC, which is a deal breaker for me. But some multiplayer fees aren't monthly and just require certain starter fees. Like you might have to pay 10 dollars to get a premiere multiplayer service instead of the free retail one.

Nope that's still wrong. We should not have to suddenly pay more than full retail price for a game to work fully. Unless they're going to make games that are comparable in scale to MMOs then they're just trying to rob their customers. The sad thing is lots of people will fall for it because they don't know better or they're fools.
