Don't search it that way. At the main screen, go down to xbox live, then into community, then into the lobby. Scroll over to game modes and join from there. You'll never get stuck again.

I've had this problem occasionally and usually just dashboard and restart the game, it happens only so often that it never bothered me much. Either way, thanks for the tip HotdogAddict, I'll keep that in mind and maybe save myself any trouble with that in the future.
