Multiplayer Achievements - No No No!!!

Achievements should be for single players only...

Certain games get this right CoD for example

I dont use XBL Gold, so how can I get 100% on games such as Perfect Dark Zero (heavily MP weighted) and the majority of other games with MP elements

Discuss and flame away!!

I like multiplayer achievements. Just not leaderboard achievements.

I am surprised that COD doesnt offer more MP achievements, considering most of its community plays it for MP. But I am right there with you, I hate games with alot of MP achievements.

I'm more of a fan of sinlge player achievements than multiplayer, but I don't mind the multiplayer ones as long as they're not leaderboard based or require ridiculous amount of luck that would resort in mass boosting from the community to obtain them which would ruin gameplay.

-

Then my other feeling on multiplayer based achievements is that when the community for that game dies and people move on those achievements a pretty much unobtainable unless boosting with dedicated parties is required to unlock them.

By the way El Badgeros, how are you finding Fallout: New Vegas? I just picked it up and have just started too.

I thought this thread was going to be about how multiplayer achievements lead to boosting and people not playing the game as intended. I find it hilarious when someone starts crying because he can't unlock some achievements.

You don't NEED all the achievements. It's that sense of entitlement that leads to so much boosting and the attitude that it's perfectly fine. Also Xbox 360 is an online console, like it or not. Some games are mainly online, should they require it's fanbase to play modes they don't care about to get achievements? For example in Shadowrun all the achievements are online except the tutorial ones. I don't boost but I like getting achievements for what I've done in the game, like play as a dwarf 100 times or kill 100 people with the rifle.

Pretty much this. No one is entitled to every Achievement just because they bought a Game. Short story, you don't "need" to do them. If you want to do them, they are there.

@ Mafivee: have had it ages, just sat on the shelf, having played Fallout 3 and Skyrim its easy to see the bridge Bethesda made with F:NV, especially regarding crafting. Loving the atmosphere and feel, although apart from crafting I don't really see much of an exponential increase in innovation over FO 3

@ Sword StyIe: no tears here bud, you just crossed my bridge ;-) In all seriousness though it was just an icebreaking topic for my first post on these forums. I would have thought though that a player with over 120k GPs would have been more... hmm, when I think of a word I'll get back to you. Having said that, I did invite the flames :-)

I agree with the majority of this, although I disagree with the comment about the 360 being online - it has optional online capabilities. My dad uses his entirely offline. I think my discussion point would have been better stated by saying maybe there should be two layers of Achievements, one SP, the other MP, just for those 100% moments ;-)

I play a lot of games. And I like achievements. There's nothing wrong with that. But if for some reason or other I can't some, I couldn't care less.

I don't mind online achievements, I just think some of them are boring.  For example, some achievements on Gears 3 are just grinding, win a match with this skin, or execute that guy with this guy 10x.  Achievements should be fun, not tedious.
