Game Suggestions

I have an opinion question for the Halo 3 community. I'm still pretty new to the Halo series and usually only play Slayer, as I really don't play video games that much. I'm looking to explore through some of the other game modes and am looking for suggestions on which to choose. Which have the biggest community and are the easiest to pick up on. Also which ones can the most time be logged on. I have all of the DLC map packs. Thanks in advance for any replies.
