Closed Captioning turns itself back on automatically in XBox Video

I have been plagued by a somewhat annoying issue for a while. For some reason, even though I turn off closed captioning in Settings>Display>Closed Captions, they automatically turn back on whenever I start the XBox Video app. I believe it is whenever the XBox is turned off an on. For instance, when I turn it on and go and re-turn off the captions, they will stay off until I reset the XBox. They don't appear for any other app other than XBox video.

When I change the CC option to "OFF" I do select "Save & Exit"

I couldnt find similar problems so I am guessing it is some wierd bug my XBox has.

I've noticed the same buggy behavior recently, when watching Season 4 of Community. This seems to be a new bug, as I never had the problem a few months ago when watching the Walking Dead.

I have this exact same problem.  Its happening to me in MLB.tv and is quite annoying.

I have had this problem too.  It just used to show up in HBOGo, but now it sometimes happens with Netflix.  It seems to randomly turn the caption settings for the console to "on".

Having the same issue here in Netflix. I have to turn it off manually every time I fire up the console.

Woohoo! Support is here! Thanks, Mister Cerb. But I think Raynsom is the guy to help out here, and all the rest of us are having the same issue, so not sure if a new thread elsewhere makes sense. Or, do you mean separate threads for each of the video apps (Netflix, HBOGo, MLB.tv, etc.)?

Any general tips for all of us on resolving this problem?

Hey again QFunk!

I only asked for a new thread because I didn't want to get things jumbled with the troubleshooting of others. While some issues (like this issue) seem similar to more than one person, they can be different in detail (like network setup, system settings, etc). Trying to troubleshoot multiple users in the same thread can often turn into a confusing jumble. Especially if certain steps work for some but not for others.

But enough about that, let's get back to the issue at hand here! Mister Fizzle and I are actively trying to figure this out as I type this message. So we'll post back as soon as we find something. ^_^

Doesn't MS fix anything? A year later and CC still turns itself back on after it has been turned off (app mlb.TV)
