My xbox is set up with an hdmi cable going to a pc monitor and a fiber optic cable to a 5.1 system. The problem is that the xbox is always sending sound through the hdmi when i don't want it to. Is there anyway to stop the xbox from sending sound through the hdmi and send it through the optic cable only?

if the sound is coming from your monitor, and the 5.1 system is a different system, then can't you just turn the sound on your monitor down? and then have the 5.1 sound on?

UPDATE:
(editing my first post is temporary not possible?)
.
Ofcourse you could turn the Volume of your Monitor off.
It should be able with the Menue Buttons on your Monitor.
Other Solutions are Hard to find because you would need to get a Way to stay your Digital HDMI Video Signal and only Convert the Sound Signal into an Analog / Fibre Signal. Could you get me more specific Infos about your Set-Up?
.
