Transfering data to new hardrive

Alright dere, is there any way round transfering the data from my old hardrive to the new one? I know there is an xbox transfer cable but dont fancy payin a tenner,

Did mine with a usb flash drive in 5 minutes, 12gb would be best choice at around £10
