Is there a way to get my old back or another possible solution? "long post"

Ok back in 2007 i made a gamer tag Minago .

well back then you had to have a windows live id  along with an "windows live email account"  being that i used another for email i never logged on to my "windows live email"  so after about a year it was "closed due to none use" .

when that happened

i lost access to my gamer tag because the "windows live email account" that  was  tied with the login info required to log in no longer existed.

i had called support.

and they said well it would be easier just to make another account and they offer me some microsoft points ,because i had lost a couple of episode of star trek and an uno game due to not being able to have access to them.

but to me at the time it wasn't a big deal ...so i passed on receiving the points and just made another gamer tag  "minago2" around 2008 which is this one.. shortly after i stopped playing xbox.

but now just until recently i got back to playing xbox and i did a search and my old gamer tag is there taunting me

http://live.xbox.com/en-US/MyXbox/Profile?gamerTag=minago

for all intense and purposes i can't access it ...it's not possible due to the email account associated with it doesn't exist anymore, but i am using the same windows live id  that i used with my old xbox  that was associated with the old gamer tag

so i don't know.

i had talked with phone support in the past and got the "make another account" and all they do is read scripts is someone able to actually investigate this and send my an email or give a report code so someone i could call support to verify my info or some such.

i know it's probably not possible to get my old account back ,but ah is it possible to close the old one all together and then i could purchase the option to change my name so i could have "minago" cept being "minago2"  O.O which is all i care about but then again it would be nice to have my old games and tv shows i had purchased back :/

Hi there.

Unfortunately you will have to take this up with the xbox support line. Once an email account becomes invalid it simply cannot be changed on your xbox LIVE account. There was a sticky thread on the old xbox.com forums regarding this specific issue and it warned readers that if you lost access to your account or it was deleted from the console then there was nothing you could do to remedy the problem.

I found the stickied thread from the old forums, here.

that's the problem i ran into back in 2007/2008  and the reason i can't access it now, see the thing was the email that was associated with the gamer tag was closed due to non use ...i had made the email account specific for xbox live at the time because needed a email that was tied to a windows live id/mail but it needed to be specifically   windows email , i forgot  what  it was called, i use another email .

this happened before that thread was posted in 2009 ,but that thread  basically states that it's not possible to get the account back .

which is a bummer .

it's tempting to call support ,but also it would eat up alot of cell phone minute's,wear the solution  would prob lead to the same thing "make another account" .

the only thing they could do is delete my previous gamertag .

which i don't know they would do that but i guess it would be more trouble than it worth ..to get the 2 off my name .

oh well, thanks for the help anyway
