Is the Optical Audio Adaptor for XBox 360 compatible with XBox One?

I hate not being able to use my SteelSeries headset with my XBox One due to the fact that the One connects to the TV via HDMI and my headset uses the standard red and white audio jacks. I found the XBox 360 optical audio adaptor online and I THINK it'll solve my problem. Does anyone know if it'd work with XBox One?

I know that is the case with certain Turtle Beach models but not sure about Steel Series.

From what I've seen they seem to have a similar setup as far as how they connect to the TV and XBox, so hopefully it'll work. Just wanted to be sure before ordering one, I've had no luck finding anything about its compatibility with XB1. Thanks!

I'm just trying to picture how this works with my headset. The one I have (SteelSeries Siberia V2 Cross-Platform)  has one cable that connects to the console via USB port, then you have the red and white audio jacks which have holes in the top for the audio jacks on the XBox to plug into (hopefully that makes sense, don't know how else to word it), these jacks and USB run into an Audiomixer which is where the in-game and chat volume is controlled, there are holes on the other side of that for the headset and the cord which hooks into the controller for XBL chat. So, I'm assuming with this device you mentioned, I'd just need to connect it to the XB1, along with the USB on the headset itself, and plug those white and red jacks into the corresponding holes? Sorry, just making sure I've got all this straight before ordering one.

The usb part will not work with xbox one yet....the only way to do chat inside a current headset is to splice the wires coming out of the included chat headset (requiring cutting/soldering etc.). Sounds like the game audio is using RCA plugs, not sure if there is an hdmi or optic converter for rca jacks.
The one I have (SteelSeries Siberia V2 Cross-Platform)  has one cable that connects to the console via USB port,
That's just for power (if anything). You'd do the same with the Xbox One.
then you have the red and white audio jacks which have holes in the top for the audio jacks on the XBox to plug into (hopefully that makes sense, don't know how else to word it)
Those cables connect to the left and right audio out on the analog side of the digital to analog adapter.
So, I'm assuming with this device you mentioned, I'd just need to connect it to the XB1,
Yes. You'll need a TOSLINK optical audio cable to go from the Xbox One's optical out to the digital side of the digital to analog audio adapter.

For now, there's no chat support from the Xbox One to any headset save the one it comes with. There will be adapters available soon, but for now you'd just use the Kinect as a mic.

Alright cool, thanks a lot! I'm fine without the chat for now, the main game I play with friends is Halo so that's not a problem.
