Internet Sharing xbox with vista problem

I have been having a problem connecting my xbox 360 wih internet sharing with vista, all the options are correctly checked and the ip settings are on automatic, but when i test on my xbox the connection a screen appears telling me "there's a problem with your connection" i use a internet stick to connect my laptop. I know that ehen i used to have the xp laptop i could connect it withought any problem cause is all automated on xp, Please if someone knows how to fix it, or a program wich may fix all of this automatically. I know it isnt the ethernet cable because the laptop reads there is a new unidentified network plugged in, and it does let me media share. Its been two weeks please help.
