I cant change my gamertag to the one i want but it says its available

Ok so I decided to change my gamertag and when i do it to the one i want it says its taken. So I tried to add the gamertag on xbox live and it says it doesnt exist.

So basically what i'm trying to say is it wont let me chang my gamertag to an available one.

 

PLEASE HELP.

It'll be in use on Zune or GFWL then.

Just because you are unable to find the gamertag does not mean it is available.  This is from the FAQ
