Windows 8: Destination folder access denied?

I just installed the Windows 8 upgrade (download version).  Previously I had Windows Vista Home Premium.

When I try to copy and paste a file from an external hard drive or a USB drive to the C: drive, a "Destination folder access denied" box appears and says "You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy to this folder".  If I click "Continue" it will let me paste the file.  
However, I can copy and paste to certain folders with C: drive without the "Destination folder access denied" box appearing.

I am the administrator and the only user of this computer.

I've tried resetting Windows 8 a few times but it doesn't fix the issue.  I've tried sliding the UAC setting to "never notify" and it doesn't work either.

How do I prevent this box from appearing every time I try to copy and paste to C: drive?

Below is the solution:

1. Run gpedit.msc, navigate and browse to Computer Configuration--Windows Settings--Security Settings--Local Policies--Security Options

2. Set policy User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators – Elevate without prompting

3. Set policy User Account Control: Detect application installations and prompt for elevation – Disabled

4. Set policy User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode – Disabled

When typing in gpedit.msc as stated above I get this message - Windows cannot find 'gpedit.msc'.  Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again.  ??

I have a folder of movies in my E drive and whenever I try to copy a movie in it, it says "File Access Denied" although I just click continue and it copies my stuff but the main problem comes when there is a zip file and I use 7z to extract, it dont let me extract any file from a zip file :(

You have the solution here and also in the previous replies. I posted the link to see that it worked for many people so just use it already and solve the issue :)

I'm sorry I forgot to mention that I already applied all these methods and some other which I found on other blogs but my issue is still not fixed, I can't even download anything from torrent to E drive.

Please do the EXACT!!! following and it should work.

1. Get Unlocker.
2. VERY IMPORTANT - when you install it you will have to check the option to include it in the context menu (right click menu), just check the box.
3. If it is an entire Drive that you have the problem with (ex: E: or D:) make sure you have enough space to move all the stuff on that drive somewhere else (on other drive or external HDD).
4. Right click the folder/folders with the permission problem, chose unlocker from the context menu chose MOVE and select a path on another drive on which you have rights or an external HDD. This will move all the content from one place to another at the end you will have full permission to the folder/folders/files.
5. If it is a Drive problem after moving everything from it Format it.
6. Copy all the things back on your drive. If it is only a folder problem then it's much easier.

The same box popped up for 

C:\bootmgr
C:\hiberfil.sys
C:\pagefile.sys
C:\Program Files
C:\swapfile.sys
C:\Windows

 

 

These are all System files/folders. Why are you even trying to access them?

When you try to change the permissions on the C:/ drive in windows 8 it attempts to change the permissions on these folders too, even when you explicitly tell it to change the permissions for the C: drive folder only.  Go ahead, try to add full access permissions to the C: drive in Windows 8 and see what happens.  If you had done that first you wouldn't have wasted everyone's time with your post.
